Aberdeen Public School
2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on ensuring positive learning environments.
We are doing this because our students deserve to come to school each day and feel safe, connected and ready to learn.
Key Actions or Strategies
- We will actively teach students that the language they use amongst their peers matters and our words have impact on others.
- Through positive reinforcement will promote the use of race/gender/body-positive language in our school.
- Continue to use Restorative Practices when conflict arises to support all parties involved in the conflict.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child to share with you one strategy for supporting their peers when their peer is feeling down.
- Try discussing how language matters with your student and how we respond verbally canimpact others, with your child.
- Check out this resource from School Mental Health Ontario about How to be an Adult Ally.
